Welcome to Analytical Grammar! This class provides a systematic approach to language mastery. Since each unit includes study notes, practice exercises and diagrams, Co-op time together will focus on teaching lesson objectives and practice with feedback from instructor and peers. Basic parts of speech, patterns, phrases, and clauses are covered in the fall. Spring units will address more difficult grammar concepts such as advanced clauses, punctuation rules, subject/verb and pronoun/antecedent agreement, and punctuation of dialogue, to name a few. We will move at a swift pace since this curriculum is targeted for completion in three years but we will complete it in only one! Through weekly practice, students learn how the individual grammar elements work together cohesively. Each unit provides students opportunities to analyze visual diagrams and weekly review, which improves memory and creates a richer understanding of grammatical concepts.
Students will be provided feedback via instructor, weekly assignments, tests, and peer interaction in lieu of letter grades.

For lesson plans, you will follow along the weekly plan below. Specific instructions are in the Teacher Manual for each week. Tests must be graded at home by parent and submitted to Mellow Yellow for grade book to be maintained. (We will not spend more than two class meetings per year administering a test. The remainder will be completed and scored at home.) This benefits your child greatly by sitting with you, the parent, and having mistakes corrected immediately. Misunderstandings and clarifications are addressed to benefit your child moving forward. I promise, once that test is submitted to me, he/she will not look at it again and the opportunity for ensuring maximum retention is over.

Mellow Yellow Education is the online platform for the grade book in this class. A video is available to help with login, but it is so simple: Visit https://www.mellowyelloweducation.com and click on the icon that shows your textbook (Analytical Grammar). If you don’t see it, click “sign in” at the top right of the page and create an account IF you are a new user. If you had a MYE account last year, sign in to that account and add the class.. You will be taken to our class site. Here you can upload tests and view grade book and syllabus. You can email me by clicking the envelope icon at the top right of the page.
